As Jewish communities in Europe became imperiled in the 1930’s, Huntsville’s Jewish citizens took action to support threatened people via a United Jewish Appeal. Led by Lawrence Goldsmith, Sr for the next two decades, this community-wide philanthropic fund supported international needs and was the precursor to our local Jewish Federation.  This Federation was formally incorporated in 2004.

The Jewish Federation of Huntsville and North Alabama is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose purpose is enhance Jewish life and continuity locally, in Israel, and throughout the world, and to generate the financial resources necessary to develop, provide, and support diverse programs and services to accomplish these goals.

The Federation Board includes members of each local congregation as well as additional citizens of the greater Huntsville community who support our mission.
