In 2021, as we recovered from the disruption of the pandemic, we undertook some new local initiatives to increase our outreach and focus on bringing our entire community together. In 2021, sponsored and partnered programs included:

with more to come, with community support.

2020 and prior

In calendar year 2020, JFHNA collected funds from the community to distribute to a variety of recipients and causes. These included:

and several other small grants in line with our mission.

COVID stifled in-person sponsored events in 2020, which typically include Israel and Holocaust-oriented education opportunities. We have brought in nationally-recognized speakers to inform us on world issues affecting Jewish Communities. We hope to resume these, and many other, activities in 2021. Please contact us with your ideas!

In recent prior years, grants have been given to Alabama university Hillel groups, Jewish preschool programming, Huntsville Jewish Heritage Center, an International Day celebration at UAH, special lectures, and travelers to Israel.

Our parent organization and largest beneficiary in 2020, the national Jewish Federations of North America, works in over 70 countries around the world to provide Crisis Relief to Jews and Non-Jews in distress. They also work to strengthen Israel and its citizens, provide educational and cultural opportunities to Jews of all ages, support the elderly and disabled, and develop leaders in the Jewish community. JFHNA is an all-volunteer organization and almost 100% of funds received are redistributed to identified needs such as the ones listed above, with small amounts allocated to website and “office .
