We have two great outdoor events for families coming up this month. This weekend, Sunday, August 15th, we are holding round 2 of our Picnic and Book swap! Pack a picnic lunch and join us at Optimist park under the large shaded pavilion from approximately 12:30-2:30. Popsicles, snacks, and drinks provided! The kids can play on the playground, participate in a Rosh Hashanah craft, and preview some of the books sent out by PJ Library each month. On August 24th, we will be hosting a morning baby/toddler meet-up, in a convenient shaded outdoor location near coffee and snacks.
Young adults (20's & 30's) and young at heart, a second meetup has been created for you to connect with other Jewish individuals throughout the greater Huntsville area. Join us Saturday, July 24th to explore the tranquil Indian Creek greenway.
PJ Family or interested in this awesome free book program for kids age 0-13? Join us for our first event! Please RSVP to ensure sufficient refreshments and other supplies.
In our most recent newsletter, we shared a number of local and regional Jewish events of interest to our community. All events are open to all and free of cost, unless otherwise noted.
Kick off the summer with JFHNA's new young professional's initiative, "You Belong in Huntsville". Led by Scott Godchaux, YBIH aims to bring together Jewish adults in their 20's and 30's and connect them more deeply within and across our Jewish community. This new group will host a number of social and business networking events over the year, starting with our first event at Stovehouse. If you are a young adult or young-at-heart, and are looking to build lasting bonds, please join us! Newcomers and long-time residents are all welcome!
JFHNA is so excited to announce that we have hired a new program planner, Cassandra Leibensperger, to create community events and activities centered around the amazing PJ Library & PJ Our Way Jewish children's book program! Beginning Summer 2021, these events will be open to all families including children age 0-13 that are served by or are interested in participating in PJ Library, regardless of observance, affiliation, or lack thereof. Learn more about this program and connect to other PJ families today.
Professor and Historian Paul Liptz will present a three part series on the state of Israel, which has gone through remarkable transformations over the years. On Sunday, April 11th at 2pm, a commemorative program in honor of Holocaust victims and survivors will be livestreamed via the Birmingham Holocaust Education Center. The program will feature the rededication of a newly planted Anne Frank Tree in Birmingham’s Kelly Ingram Park as well as various speakers including Governor Kay Ivey, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin, and Pastor Chris Edmonds, son of World War II hero Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds, whose fearless bravery saved the lived of Jewish American soldiers in a prisoner of war camp in Germany.
Do you have a passion for Jewish children's education and community connections? JFHNA is looking for a new part-time PJ Program Planner to arrange events and connect families who are part of the PJ Library and PJ Our Way monthly Jewish book, music, and craft clubs.
